A 4-stroke engine can be installed on the ship to produce electrical power and also to propel the ship (usually in small-size vessels). Unlike a 2-stroke engine, this engine takes 4 cycles to complete the transfer of power from the combustion chamber to the crankshaft.

This course will help you understand the functioning, components and system involved in 4-stroke engine operation.

Take this to-the-point course to understand the basics of marine 4-stroke diesel engines used on board ships.
