NAVTEX – Navigation Telex for Ships
This course will cover the basics of NAVTEX operation, including the principles of radio broadcasting and reception, the structure and content of NAVTEX messages, and the use of NAVTEX equipment on board ships. Participants will learn about the different types of NAVTEX messages and how to interpret them, including the significance of the different message categories, and how to integrate NAVTEX information into onboard safety management procedures. The course will also provide an overview of the international regulations governing NAVTEX and its use in the global maritime community. Participants will learn about the different types of NAVTEX stations and the range of services they provide, as well as the procedures for requesting and receiving NAVTEX messages. By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of NAVTEX and its role in enhancing the safety and efficiency of maritime operations. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to use NAVTEX effectively as a source of vital information for navigational decision-making and situational awareness.
